Inaugurated in Port au Prince the Olympic Sports for Hope Center, for elite athletes

PUERTO PRINCIPE - "Declare opened the Olympic Sports for Hope Center." Such were the words used by the International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach, Tuesday July 15, at the opening of the Olympic Center of Hope, at the junction of Route 9 and the National 1.

Headlining the event were President Michel Martelly, Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe, the Speaker of Parliament, Simon Desras Dieuseul, Sports Minister, Himmler Rebu, President of the Haitian Olympic Committee, Hans Larsen, and numerous local and international sports personalities.

"This center will allow young Haitian athletes have a higher level of training for performance also at the highest level," said Secretary General of the United Nations, Ban Ki-Moon. "Sport is a supplement to the education and training of the person. The young need to grow the sport, but the sport is also a means of uniting society when enables young people from all social sectors are part of the same team, "added the President Martelly in his speech.
