Sucre, January 9, 2018.
In a public ceremony and with the participation of the President of the Plurinational State of Bolivia, the Ministry of Environment and Water and Eurofinsa signed the award contract for construction of the Fisculco potable water pumping system, which will guarantee the quantity, quality and continuity of the supply of water to more than 426,000 inhabitants of the municipality of Sucre.
"What was signed is specifically for the pumping system, which will cost 24 million bolivianos (...). According to the contract, the company (Eurofinsa) must deliver (the work) in 10 months; this pumping system will provide 500 litres per second for the city," said the chief executive of the Andean country, Evo Morales
The project -- launched in the framework of the national government's emergency program -- has five components: intake work (lateral type), water drive line, pumping station, a sand trap and the installation of electrical equipment that will capture the waters of the Ravelo and Potolo rivers, located near the Fisculco community.
"It is an honour for Eurofinsa to be part of this work that consists of the construction of a drinking water adduction by drive system to increase the flow of supply and that will generate conditions for long-term supply for the benefit of the Sucrense people”, said the Country manager of the Spanish company, Alejandro Bueno.
The signing of the document, held in the Convention Hall of the Governorate of Chuquisaca, included the participation of two State Ministers, local authorities, leaders of social movements, public officials and technicians of the Potable Water and Sewerage Company of Sucre (ELAPAS).
This is the third project that Eurofinsa has undertaken in the South American country. The first two are in Tarija (road work with a budget that exceeds 80 million dollars) and in Riberalta (provision of basic services to more than 14,000 families).
